Since graduating from Stanford University with B.A. in Music and B.A. in Human Biology in 2001, I have been active as a music composer, performer, and producer of multi-disciplinary art events and performances throughout Japan, the U.S.A., and Indonesia. My role as a composer is to become a medium of communication and to create a space, where music can be born organically from relationships between people, cultures, and environments. Through creative dialogues in the experimental processes of artistic expression, I engage with the issues of identity from multiple perspectives. By challenging the pre-existing social frameworks and personal boundaries, I hope to promote social activism in the arts.

Inspired by my uncle, who is a master of Chinese traditional percussion, I began to learn guqin at the age of nine. I graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in 2004 with a master degree in quqin, and joined the Central Ensemble of the Folk Music as a guqin player. I enjoy working with different artists, particularly for music impromptu performances. From 2004 to 2007, I was invited by Cuijian and Douwei, the Chinese rock stars, to be the guqin player and to participate as improviser in their solo concerts. I have visited Asia and Europe many times and attended a lot of different concerts and festivals of free jazz which I find very stimulating. I am most interested in improvisation and contemporary artistic expression.
